Osx Catalina Upgrade

Even though it says it is possible there have been a lot of reports of the install freezing.

The upgrade install merges the new macOS Catalina with your existing Mac OS. This is the upgrade method we will cover in this Rocket Yard guide. Before we begin the upgrade process, a few tips and notes about macOS Catalina and what you need to do to be ready for the install on your Mac.

Part of the installation is the conversion of the file system from HFS+ to the newer APFS system.

Question: Q: MacOS upgrade Mavericks to Catalina Have Mavericks 10.9.5 on MacBook Pro Early 2013. Article says it should be compatible with Catalina but install freezes at Install window. Since the arrival of the Mac App Store in 2011 (as an update to Snow Leopard) versions of Mac OS X and macOS have been available to download via the Mac App Store. However, that changed slightly.

And this is where the install freezes.

I would have recommended upgrading to macOS High Sierra as an intermediary step.

High Sierra was the first OS to use the APFS system and would have installed the firmware

necessary for it.
